The Honorable Steve C. Jones was appointed by former President Obama in 2011 as a senior U.S. district judge for the Northern District of Georgia. He has served in the judiciary for over three decades, including roles in municipal, state and federal courts. A UGA graduate, he is widely recognized for his leadership, community service and numerous professional honors.

The Shoukry Leadership Speaker Series is an Institute of Leadership Advancement Speaker Series. Its lectures feature well-known leaders who share their unique leadership styles and experiences with students. The series is supported by a donation from Leonard Leadership Scholar alumnus Paul Shoukry (BBA '05, MAcc '05) and his wife Amy.

This lecture is part of the University's 2026 Spring Signature Lecture Series.

You are invited to the 40th Annual Equal Justice Foundation Auction. No ticket or RSVP is required to attend. Cocktail attire, free food provided. Doors open at 7 pm at 1785 Bar and Grill (420 E Clayton St., downtown Athens).

The evening will begin with a silent/online auction at 7 p.m. and the live auction will follow at 8 p.m.

Proceeds raised from this event will fund law students who have accepted unpaid positions in public interest and public service. The event recognizes and reaffirms UGA’s commitment to training and supporting public interest lawyers. We would like to thank the EJF members, faculty, staff, and sponsors who have worked so hard to make this event possible.

Silent Auction
The silent auction will begin at 7 p.m. and end promptly at 9:45 p.m. Silent auction bids are taken through the GiveSmart platform. To register, text EJF25 to 76278. You must have credit card information in the GiveSmart platform to bid on any Silent Auction item. Bidding will end at 9:45 p.m. and payments will be processed at that time. EJF members will make sure winning bidders get their items.

The Red Clay Conference is a student-led, annual event hosted by the University of Georgia School of Law's Environmental Law Association. There will be three panels on the following topics: introduction to data centers, natural resource consumption and local regulation, and data center case studies in Georgia. There will also be a keynote speaker who will provide suggestions for how data centers should be regulated. Tax law offers a wide range of career paths across private practice, in-house roles, government, accounting and consulting, and public policy. This event will introduce students to the different ways tax lawyers build careers, the types of work they do day to day, and how tax issues intersect with business, transactions, and regulation. Students interested in corporate, litigation, or policy-focused careers are encouraged to attend.
